What does The Kiss by Rodin depict?

This sculpture, originally commissioned by the French government, is based on a love story recounted by Dante in his Divine Comedy and sculpted in 1886 by Rodin for The Gates of Hell. Francesca da Rimini's father arranged her marriage to Gianciotto Malatesta as part of a political union, to end a war between the Malatesta and Rimini families.

Gianciotto's younger brother, Paolo, was sent to advise Francesca. During their meeting, the two fell in love. Later, Francesca, betrayed in her marriage to Gianciotto, continued seeing Paolo until the day the two lovers were caught in her room. Gianciotto threw a sword at Paolo, but also struck Francesca in the chest, along with Paolo. The pair of lovers were buried together in a shared tomb.

Where is The Kiss by Rodin located?

Now on display at the Rodin Museum in Paris, the original work of art has been there since the end of World War II, after being recovered from Germany.
